چکیده

Six selective media, namely xylose lysine desoxycholate agar (XLD), desoxycholate citrate agar (DCA), desoxycholate citrate lactose saccharose agar (DCLS), Salmonella Shigella agar (SS), bismuth sulphiteagar (BS) and brilliant green agar (BG), were compared for recovering Salmonella from pure cultures using the pour plate method. BS agar was superior to alt-the other agars in supporting growth of all the five Salmonella serotypes studied. Except for S. blockley, BG agar appeared next in superiority to BS agar. The three other media, namely XLD agar, DCA agar and DCLS agar, showed comparable recoveries. SS agar, however, was somewhat inhibitory to these organisms.

Comparison of Six Culture Methods for Salmonella Isolation from Poultry Fecal Samples

Abstract Background and Objective: Salmonellosis is one of the most important food-borne bacterial zoonotic diseases worldwide, and poultry and its products are the major sources for salmonella transmission to human. Isolation of Salmonellaenterica from poultry needs bacteriologic enrichment and selected cultures of fecal samples. In this study, different culture methods for the isolation of s...

بررسی انواع محیط‌های غنی کننده، انتخابی و افتراقی درجداسازی و شناسایی سالمونلا در مبتلایان به اسهال

Background and Aim: Salmonellosis is a gastroenteritis caused by different serotypes of Salmonella and is the most common type of food poisoning in the world. The purpose of this research study is to optimize the conventional method for the isolation of Salmonella SPP from the diarrheic specimens of children. Materials and Methods: Stool specimens were obtained from one hundred patients admitt...

Evaluation of plating media for recovering Salmonella from thermally treated egg albumen

Salmonella spp. present in pasteurized egg albumen are often difficult to recover by direct plating because of thermal injury and the presence of innate iron binding and other antimicrobials in egg white. The literature has reported a multiplicity of selective and nonselective media used to recover heat-injured Salmonella, to measure the proportion of injured cells, or both. This study compared...

Effects of enrichment media and incubation conditions on isolating salmonellae from ground-meat filtrate.

Forty-eight combinations of enrichment media, secondary enrichment, incubation times and temperatures, and atmospheres were examined for their efficacy in recovering different serovars of Salmonella that had been inoculated into ground-meat extract. Variations included three selective-enrichment media, two (37 and 43 degrees C) incubation temperatures, two (24 and 48 h) incubation times, two (a...
